A night on the red carpet…

Yahoo! was a sponsor of this years 11th Annual Hollywood Film Festival’s “Hollywood Awards®” ceremony, honoring independent filmmakers and established Hollywood actors and professionals at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.  Because we were sponsors of the event, and on the Entertainment Marketing team, I was going to the show!

I did what every person going to an awards show has probably done – spent days wondering what to wear, finding the right shoes and accessories, getting the nails done, etc, etc.  I know I’m not the big celebrity that all eyes would be on, but I didn’t really have anything that I could wear since I’d lost quite a few pounds recently and most of what I owned was too casual.  Was it so wrong that I wanted a night to just SHINE!  So I engaged in the services of my friend Aileen who if anyone knows what to wear and who’s wearing it, it’s her.  Most of it I can’t really afford, but I knew I’d find something.  We shopped on Robertson & Melrose at a lot of the popular boutique stores and after about an hour of going in and out of dressing rooms, I found it…my fabulous dress for the night.

Since I didn’t have a boyfriend I asked my friend Grant to stand in as my date.  We cabbed it over to the Beverly Hills Hotel and found a few yahoo!’s waiting around and celeb watching before the show started.  We saw John Travolta, Ben Affleck, Casey Affleck, and Richard Gere walking the carpet and talking to reporters.  We took our seats and as dinner was being served, Mary Hart started the show.  There were lots of celebrities presenting and receiving the awards.  Besides the ones we had seen on the way in, there was also Will Farell, Brad Pitt, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Kirstie Alley, Janet Jackson, Marion Cotillard and Diablo Cody, just to name a few.  It was a small venue and the show didn’t last that long.  Afterwards they shuffled us down to the pool area for the private after-party.  We mingled amongst the stars, had free drinks, and danced til the party ended.

It was fun hanging out with Hollywood celebs.  It was also quite exhausting!  But most importantly….I looked fabulous!
